Description
Tear-shaped outline but slightly asymmetrical. Circular, somewhat flat discus with central filling hole and three smaller holes around has rosette with 10 concave, slightly pointed to rounded petals and wide frame. Flat shoulder has herringbone in relief. Rounded nozzle framed by double angled grooves has airhole at top and short channel to wickhole; traces of burning. The underside of the nozzle has a single circle on each side. Thick joining ridge, distinct ledge, and webbing. Tall, solid handle with one groove above and two below; lower handle has flanking grooves. Flat base has triple almond-shaped grooves around incuse design of cross monogram with rho closed right. Two double circles added at base of handle and three double circles added below horizontal arms of cross during retouching.
Fabric, firing, surface
7.5YR 7/4, pink, to 2.5YR, 2.5/1, reddish black. Late Corinthian white fabric. Extensive discoloration from uneven firing. Sparse, large clay nodules.
Preservation comment
Nearly intact but missing outer rim of nozzle. Traces of encrustation.
