Description
Tear-shaped outline. Circular, concave discus with raised rim has relief of cross monogram with rho (small loop) open right, four single circles at ends of arms and one double circle at intersection, and single transverse grooves at ends; three holes in quadrants. Sloping shoulder has herringbone in low relief. Rounded nozzle framed by single angled grooves has airhole at top flanked by single circles and a short groove to wickhole; traces of burning. Short, thick, solid handle has two grooves; lower handle has flanking grooves. Slight webbing. Flat base has three single circles at top and one at bottom and double almond-shaped grooves around incuse signature: ΗΡ|Ν(?)[.|ΟΥ (reading uncertain).
Fabric, firing, and surface description
7.5YR 6/6, reddish yellow (interior) to 2.5YR 7/6, light red (exterior). Material typical for ware. Unglazed. Sparse, large clay nodules.
Preservation comment
Intact apart from small break along lip of nozzle. Sparse encrustation.
