Description
Circular outline and biconical profile. Thick band handle with central ridge applied in tight loop that tilts forward from upper body. Dodecanesian (Rhodian?) product.
Fabric, firing, surface
5YR 7/4, pink. Slip: 5YR 5/4, reddish brown. Somewhat soft, dense fabric; slightly granular break with gritty texture; rare, small, rounded, white (lime) and subangular, red inclusions; rare, glassy black bits; and rare, small, golden micaceous flecks. Thin, even, dull slip preserved only in sparse patches. Eastern Aegean/Western Asia Minor.
Preservation description
One small fragment preserves entire handle and small part of shoulder and base. Slight to moderate abrasion and pitting; worn breaks; slight, extensive encrustation.
