Description
Tear-shaped outline. Square discus has channel to wickhole and scalloped border. Framing band with herringbone pattern to left and right of discus and framing band with vertical grooves across top of discus out to rim. Rows of small circles to either side of handle and above upper framing band; three transverse grooves, with two small circles above and two below, beside lateral framing band; curving horizontal grooves beside channel to wickhole. Design is uneven throughout. Rim delineated over whole length by single deep groove.
Fabric, firing, surface
Typical fabric, firing, and surface treatment for ware. 7.5YR 8/6, reddish yellow. Hard, fine fabric with smooth break and texture; common, spherical to subrounded voids. Unglazed.
Preservation description
One fragment preserves <50% of shoulder and small part of discus. Very slight abrasion; worn breaks; thin, extensive encrustation in molded details.
