Early Roman Corinthian Lamp, Transitional
Description
Circular, slightly concave discus has rosette with 16 concave, rounded petals, central filling hole, and rounded framing ring. Slightly sloping shoulder has large ovules. This type has small, rounded nozzle and ring handle attached at rim.
Fabric, firing, and surface description
2.5YR 8/3, pale yellow. Early-Middle Roman Corinthian lamp fabric: very fine. Unglazed.
Preservation comment
Eight fragments, two joining (160+168), preserve ca. 50% of discus and small parts of shoulder and nozzle. Slight, extensive encrustation.
