Description
Circular, shallow discus has relief of male figure with thick hair standing or striding three-quarters right but looking back left, right arm outstretched, wearing fringed cuirass and flowing mantle, carrying another smaller, draped figure on shoulders. Aeneas, Anchises, and Ascanius type. Details are slightly blunt and retouching is evident in face and hair.
Fabric, firing, and surface description
7.5YR 7/4, pink. Typical Early-Middle Roman Corinthian lamp fabric: pale with tinge of red; faintly gritty texture.
Preservation comment
One small fragment preserves central discus. Moderate flaking and slight abrasion; sparse patches of encrustation.
