Description
Circular to oval outline. Circular, nearly flat discus has Greek cross with flaring arms and raised rim in low relief, central filling hole, and sharply raised, rounded rim. Shoulder is broad and flat with single row of globules (14 total?). This type has no channel on nozzle. Solid, pointed and knob-like handle attaches to shoulder. Design is uneven.
Fabric, firing, surface
7.5 YR 8/3, pink. Somewhat soft, fine fabric with mostly smooth break and texture; uncommon, small, rounded, white (calcareous), rare, angular, red; very rare, angular, gray to black (carbonous) inclusions; faint sparkles of golden mica. Unglazed. Ephesian?
Preservation description
One large fragment preserves <50% of discus and shoulder, and upper handle. Slight to moderate, extensive abrasion with minor chipping; worn breaks; frequent, thin patches of encrustation.
