Description
Circular outline. Flat shoulder up to shallow rim that slopes steeply inward to wide central filling hole. This inner rim is defined by one very narrow ridge on inside and one on outside. Black glaze on exterior surface. Athenian product.
Fabric, firing, and surface description
Fabric: 5YR 6/6, reddish yellow. Slip: 10R 5/6, red, to 10R 3/1, dark reddish gray. Somewhat hard, smooth, fine fabric with rare, very small, rounded to subangular white inclusions and infrequent golden mica. Lustrous, thin, even, black glaze, fired dark brown on inner rim to red on shoulder, somewhat flaky.
Preservation comment
One small fragment preserves small part of shoulder and inner rim. Moderate abrasion and slight gouging.
