Description
Circular outline. Circular(?) discus has raised rim and single framing ring. Slightly rounded and slightly sloping shoulder has five uneven rows of small globules. This type has long, rounded nozzle with band of tongues across top. Slight webbing. Narrow, solid handle with two grooves above and fishtail below. Raised base ring.
Fabric, firing, and surface description
Fabric: 10R 7/4, pale red. Slip: 2.5YR 5/4, reddish brown. Slightly soft, fine, slightly micaceous fabric with rare to very few, very small, subrounded, white (calcareous) inclusions. Thin, even, semilustrous slip. Ephesian?
Preservation comment
One large fragment preserves less than one-quarter of shoulder, entire handle, and roughly one-third of base and right wall. Slight abrasion; slight, extensive encrustation on shoulder. Secondary scorching on handle.
