Description
Circular outline. Circular, concave, plain discus has central filling hole and framing ring. Rounded shoulder has three uneven rows of large globules. Volute nozzle.
Fabric, firing, surface
Fabric: 2.5YR 6/6, light red. Slip: 10R 3/4, dusky red. Typical Early-Middle Roman Athenian lamp fabric: slightly gritty texture; sparse, tiny to small black particles. Thick, semiglossy slip, splotchy.
Preservation description
One fragment preserves ca. 25% of discus, shoulder, and upper base of nozzle. Slight, somewhat extensive abrasion with minor scoring and chipping; worn breaks; scattered specks of encrustation.
