Description
Calyx cup. Moderately concave, flaring, thin wall. Vertical rim has trapezoidal, slightly undercut flange, two slight ridges on exterior face, and sharp lip.
Fabric, firing, and surface description
Fabric: 5YR 6/6, reddish yellow. Slip: 10R 4/6, red but going black in places. Somewhat hard, fine fabric with rare silvery mica and rare, very small, rounded, white (lime) inclusions, some opening at surface. Thick, semiglossy, somewhat even slip, thick in grooves and around edges, minute crazing. Smooth interior and exterior; fine striations from trimming.
Preservation comment
Four joining fragments preserve less than one-quarter of upper body and one-quarter of rim. Slight abrasion and chipping; slight, somewhat sparse encrustation. Black speckling on exterior.
