Description
Open vessel with convex wall (such as a kotyle). Painted forms with thin incised lines represent typical background motifs common to Early and Middle Corinthian Style: blob, plus-incised rosette, and horizontal bands. A larger form with series of incised wavy lines might be another filler ornament or part of a figure. Painting and incised lines are free and inexact. Interior painted solidly with slip in horizontal strokes.
Fabric, firing, and surface description
Fabric: 10YR 7/3, very pale brown. Slip: 5YR 4/3, reddish brown, to 5YR 3/1, very dark gray. Hard, fine fabric with rare, very small to small, white, red, and black inclusions. Black slip is chipped and worn in places but fired to a reddish brown to dark gray; no traces of added color.
Preservation comment
One small fragment preserves part of middle body. Slight pitting; thin, extensive encrustation.
