Typological identification comment
JLR (2005) is uncertain of identification as Egyptian cooking pot of early 2nd century, as MorisonRife2022.
Description
Wide, convex upper body with slight carination to inward-sloping neck. High, everted rim with slightly concave outer face and overhanging, grooved lip. Prominent interior flange for lid seating.
Fabric, firing, and surface description
Fabric (core): 7.5YR 4/0, dark gray; (surfaces): 10R 6/4, pale red. Hard, somewhat coarse fabric with common, medium, subangular quartz, uncommon, small, subrounded to subangular, black inclusions, and rare sandy particles and flecks of mica. Not regional.
Preservation comment
One small fragment preserves 25% of neck and rim. Slight abrasion and chipping; slight, extensive encrustation.
