Description
Plate. Wide horizontal rim. Flaring wall. Exterior mostly unfinished; white slip and yellowish white to light yellow glaze up over the rim onto exterior. Sgraf-fito decoration incised by wide point on top of rim: single, simple, split palmette with three leaves.
Fabric, firing, and surface description
Fabric: 2.5YR 5/6, red. Slip: white. Glaze: yellowish white to light yellow (close to PMS 7506). Somewhat hard, fine fabric with rare, small, rounded to subangular, white inclusions and very rare, small to medium, subangular, gray inclusions. Thick, even, dull slip. Thin, uneven (exterior) to thick, even (interior), semilustrous glaze shows crazing.
Preservation comment
One fragment preserves small part of rim and upper body. Very slight, sparse chipping.
