Description
Shallow bowl or plate. Low-flaring wall; shallow, flaring ring foot that comes to a rounded point. Exterior unfinished; interior has creamy white slip and clear to light yellow glaze. Sgraffito decoration incised by fine point on floor: medallion containing uncertain angular design, probably an interlace on imbricated ground enclosed by two circles, empty band, and band of tendrils. Details are freely but finely rendered.
Fabric, firing, and surface description
Fabric: 2.5YR 6/8, light red. Slip: creamy white. Glaze: clear to light yellow (PMS 7499). Somewhat soft, medium-coarse fabric with frequent, small, white (lime) and rare, miniscule, sparkling inclusions; few voids. Thick, even, somewhat dull slip. Thick, even, lustrous glaze shows crazing.
