Conservation
1960s: sherds joined with shellac and small part patched with white plaster.
Description
Flat bottom with low ring base; flaring lower wall out to rounded (?) body. Distinct groove around circumference at 2.8 cm above base. Faint spiral turning bands.
Fabric, firing, and surface description
2.5YR 5/6 (red) fabric; 2.5YR 4/4 (reddish brown) slip. Fine fabric with uncommon, small, subangular, black and rare, very small, gray inclusions. Thin, matte slip evenly applied everywhere inside and down sides to just above base.
Preservation comment
Eight joining fragments preserve base and lower body; numerous large and small flakes from this or another vessel. Severe erosion everywhere. From marine context: reddish brown fabric disintegrating, all edges blunted.
