Description
Short, somewhat squat amphora with high neck and flaring rounded rim; rounded shoulders; cylindrical body very slight widening towards base; rounded lower part leading to short toe. The two round-in-section handles extend from below rim to lower part of shoulder. In overall conception, the form is imitative of LRA1.
Fabric, firing, and surface description
Slightly coarse, dark reddish brown fabric with some tiny light bits. The surface has a thin wash and is slightly darker brown than the fabric.
Preservation comment
Intact but missing most of one handle. Extensive, moderate to severe pitting, flaking and erosion of soft surface consistent with marine submersion over long period; larger thick patches of marine accretion and small shells.
