Description
Coarse-ware mortarium. Deep, circular pot flares upward. Wide overhanging rim, sloping slightly outward, has vertical, squared lip (H. ca. 1.8 cm) at inner edge. Trapezoidal spout with lip extends out beyond rim and hangs lower.
Fabric, firing, and surface description
Fabric 7.5YR 6/3 (light brown), fired slightly darker on all surfaces; 7.5YR 3/1 (very dark gray) slip. Coarse, chunky fabric has frequent small to large, subrounded to subangular, mostly white (lime) and fewer gray rocky inclusions; uncommon irregular voids. Thin, even slip on upper-interior surface. Regional fabric.
Preservation comment
One large fragment preserves one spout and small part of shoulder. Severe erosion and flaking everywhere; breaks are irregular and heavily worn. From marine context: slightly powdery, incipient delamination.
