Heavy set trefoil-mouth pitcher. The ‘trefoil‘ aspect is reduced to a minimal pinching of outer edge of rim and then a separately formed narrowing channel to form very short spout. Overall rim is thickened with slightly descending flat upper face; neck widens on interior and exterior below rim and then narrows again, forming catchment for liquid before it pours out. Short neck quickly flares to body. Handle is attached just below widest point of neck; it is oval in profile.
Fabric, firing, and surface description
Fabric discolored by marine exposure. Slight granular with some small, light, sub-angular inclusions visible in breaks. Surface slipped, now pale brown where not chipped away.
Preservation comment
One sherd preserves entire rim, neck, upper handle, and neck down to turn to wall. Extensive, moderate erosion and abrasion; worn breaks; extensive, rough encrustation. Weathering consistent with long marine submersion.
