Bonifay2004 Sigillée type 57 variante A (late 6th-first half 7th cs.)
Description
Large shallow plate. Thick, knobby rim has somewhat flat upper face, convex outer face, and flat lower face, offset. Straight upper wall.
Fabric, firing, and surface description
Slightly granular reddish fabric with rare, small, subrounded and subangular, gray and white inclusions. Thick somewhat smoothed slip on interior, matte on exterior.
Preservation comment
Two nonjoining sherds preserve 25% of rim and wall. Slight, sparse abrasion and chipping around edges otherwise clean breaks; thin film of encrustation and thicker patches along edges.
