Description
Cylindrical neck with plain, short, outwardly thickened rim. Patches of excess clay pressed flat around upper neck and rim. Fine, straight and swirling brushstrokes visible from smoothing exterior surface. Interior and over lip onto outside is thin coating of pitch, painted in wide bands and sprayed speckling.
Description
Pale brownish red, medium fine, slightly hard fabric with smooth to slightly granular fracture; faint sparkling bits (mica?); infrequent, tiny to small, well sorted, mostly rounded to subrounded, white and off-white particles (calcareous and quartzitic?); very rare black grains.
Preservation comment
One sherd preserves 25% of rim and small part of upper neck. Slight, very sparse abrasion and pitting; somewhat worn breaks; small, sparse patches of encrustation; interior scorched (pitch residue burned?).
