Description
Short, vertical to slightly tapering, cylindrical rim with distinct bulge in middle; demarcard below b y sharp groove; rounded lip thickens outward. Upper shoulder is rounded, descends steeply. Fine, sharp ridging on upper shoulder.
Fabric, firing, surface
Pale orangish red. Hard, slightly coarse; slight hackly break. Common, tiny to rarely small, white and gray to black inclusions, all well sorted. Thin, extensive white film: not slip; byproduct of drying process before firing? Sim. 1792. Egyptian: southwest of Delta.
Preservation comment
One sherd preserves ca. 20% of rim and small part of upper shoulder. Very slight, sparse abrasion and minor chipping; mostly clean breaks; extensive white (calcareous) film.
