- Middle Roman Amphora 7
- Description
- Cylindrical, thick-walled neck. Tapering rim rolled outward with sloping exterior face; horizontal flange below.
- Fabric, firing, and surface description
- 2.5YR 5/8 (orange red). Hard, granular fabric with uncommon, small, angular, predominantly light inclusions (note quartz), rare, small, rounded, dark inclusions, and frequent tiny sand. Surface essentially plain, slightly darker than fabric.
- Preservation comment
- One sherd preserve >25% of rim and upper neck. Slight, sparse abrasion, chipping and flaking; worn breaks; slight, very thin patches of encrustation.
