Middle Roman Amphora 7
Description
Cylindrical, thick-walled neck. Tapering rim rolled outward with sloping exterior face; horizontal flange below.
Fabric, firing, and surface description
2.5YR 5/8 (orange red). Hard, granular fabric with uncommon, small, angular, predominantly light inclusions (note quartz), rare, small, rounded, dark inclusions, and frequent tiny sand. Surface essentially plain, slightly darker than fabric.
Preservation comment
One sherd preserve >25% of rim and upper neck. Slight, sparse abrasion, chipping and flaking; worn breaks; slight, very thin patches of encrustation.
