African Red-Slip Hayes Form 105
Description
Large plate. Blocky rim with rounded, sloping upper face that forms a rounded lip, convex outer face, and flat underside with offset. Straight to slightly curving upper wall.
Fabric description
Slightly granular fabric fired consistently to red with occassional tiny light bits, one dark bit observed. Matte slip on interior, thinner on interior with smoothing bands.
Preservation comment
One sherd preserves ca. 5-8% of rim and small part of upper wall. Slight to moderate abrasion and slight chipping around edges; moderate but scattered patches of encrustation.
