Bonifay2004 Sigillée type 57 variante B/C (mid-late 7th c.)
Description
Large plate. Blocky to somewhat oval rim, tall, with wide, sloping upper face that forms, vertical to slightly convex outer face, and flat underside with curving offset. Straight to slightly curving upper wall.
Fabric, firing, and surface description
Slightly granular fabric fired, consistently to red with occassional tiny lime specks. Matte to dull, reddish orange slip on interior, thinner on interior with smoothing bands, extends over rim.
Preservation comment
One small sherd preserves 6% of rim and small part of upper wall. Very slight abrasion; mostly clean breaks; extensive, thick encrustation.
