Description
Solid spike toe tapers in middle but widens to ball at base.
Fabric, firing, and surface description
Reddish yellow, consistently fired. Medium coarse with common, medium, subrounded and subangular, grey and red inclusions, some rocky.
Preservation comment
One large fragment preserves entire toe to attachment with body. Severely water-worn: extreme, extensive abrasion and pitting; no visible encrustation or mortar. Collected from beach or underwater in antiquity?
