Typological identification
Corinthian Type A Amphora
Description
Heavy, vertical, slightly curved handle, round in section.
Fabric, firing, and surface description
Core: 5R 7/1, pinkish gray. Surface: 7.5R 8/4, light pink. Medium fine, somewhat hard fabric with frequent medium to large, angular and subangular, varied inclusions and rare, large, subrounded red chunks. Thick, even, matte slip slightly darker than surface.
Preservation comment
One large sherd preserves long segment of handle. Severe, extensive abrasion and scoring with large frequent large gouges and chips; heavily worn edges; sparse specks to small patches of encrustation.
