Unclassified Amphora
Description
Cylindrical lower body flaring upward. Slight constriction with irregular clay band inside: repair? Strong wheel ridging inside.
Fabric, firing, and surface description
Reddish brown, consistently fired(?); fine, hard; smooth to vaguely granular to hackly break; tiny to small, poorly sorted, dark and light particles sparsely visible through encrustation (including white calcareous and red). Thin, streaky, matte wash in red and pale brown (two applications) trickling down from upper body.
Preservation comment
One body sherd. Slight chipping around edges; worn breaks; sparse, thin spicules to patches of encrustation.
