Description
Lead shimming from columnar joint. Smooth on underwide and rough on top. Spread out from channel (though no such impression survives) so that the edges are thickened and slightly rounded. Deep slot and angular indentations around edges may represent attachment to empolion or other structural features.
Preservation comment
One large fragment of irregular shape, turned up around margins after recovery (during handle?). Slight film of encrustation and incipient lead degradation across surfaces.
