Fabric, firing, surface
Fired pale orangish red at surfaces (3-5mm) and pale yellow to beige at core in thickened wall. Hard, slightly coarse; vaguely granular break and gritty surface texture. Frequent, small, rounded, tabular, white particles; uncommon, tiny, gray to black bits; rare, small, vegetal voids; all mostly well sorted. Thin, even, white film flaking across wide swaths: not slip; byproduct of drying process before firing? Cf. 2063; sim. 977. Egyptian: southwest of Delta.
Preservation comment
One large sherd preserves 18-20% of rim and small part of upper shoulder. Moderate, extensive abrasion and chipping around edges; worn breaks; scattered patches of thin film of encrustation.
