Description
A family of bag-shaped amphoras related to or deriving from the southern Levantine LRA5/6 (q.v.) but on a slightly smaller scale with a lower, steeper shoulder and a range of rim shapes, often convex, some with an everted lip. Distinct northern Egyptian fabrics identified with Lake Mareotis, Abu Mina, and Kom Abou Billou (Terenouthis). Production from early 7th century through Umayyad and Abbasid eras (to ca. 11th century).
