Description
Amphora. Rounded shoulder. Cylindical neck, bulging slightly near rim. Rolled rim, slightly hooked underneath, with rounded lip. Loop handles, oval in section, attach at upper neck and shoulder; slightly irregular ridge on upper face. Red dipinto in red paint on upper shoulder alongside handle: Ξ•ΚΓΒ = ξ(έσται) • κγ’ β”.
Fabric, firing, and surface description
Very slightly granular fabric fired to light red (2.5YR 7/6) with rare to uncommon, small, angular white (lime) inclusions, and mixed, well sorted, tiny but including black, red, and golden mica glistening. Surface is pale (7.5YR 8/2, “pink”). Thin, even wash, interior surface plain and a closer light red to fabric. Cf. Ke05445-P0135.
Preservation comment
One large sherd preserves entire rim, neck, both handles, and upper shoulder. Slight abrasion but surface in good condition; clean breaks; rare specks of encrustation.
