Fabric, firing, and surface description
Material obscured by weathering: pale orange fabric and dark gray slip, but variable surface from differential firing across body; soft, somewhat soft?; uncommon, tiny to small, white, gray, and black bits, between angular and subrounded; frequent sparkling specks: silvery mica; small, uncommon, rounded and elongated voids in surface. Thick, even, semimatte(?) slip over entire inside and over lip down wall; peeling in small flakes. Faint bands from trimming on upper body.
Preservation comment
15 joining sherds preserve ca. 55% of vessel, including entire base. Very slight, rare abrasion and slight, extensive erosion with faint flaking; surface mostly in good condition but spots of marine encrustation on underside. Weathering consistent with long marine submersion.
