Also known as Knossos 49, Augst 55, Ostia III.368, Peacock & Williams Class 45A, and “Anfora monoansata.“
Typological identification comment
In Riley‘s classification of amphoras at Benghazi, this type is the equivalent of the Early to Middle Roman development of the micaceous water jar at the Athenian Agora from a more ovoid to a more fusiform or barrel-shaped form. Cf. Agora J 46-47/M 45/M 125-126.
