1960s: roughly 30% of one side filled with gray plaster and then entire face apparently sanded or ground down so that infilled portions and original vessel wall are flush.
Fabric, firing, and surface description
Yellow brown fabric, fired slightly more orange at surface? Somewhat soft, slightly gritty fabric; smooth to vaguely granular break, with sandy texture; uncommon, well sorted, small, subrounded and angular black inclusions; rare red and white (calcareous?) bits.
Preservation comment
One large fragment preserves most of amphora but missing lower body and toe. Extensive abrasion, pitting, and gouging; very worn edges. Weathering consistent with long submersion in marine environment.
