Kenchreai IV RC22e Amphora
Description
Amphora with rounded(?) shoulder. Cylindrical neck bulging near rim. Loop handle, angular oval in secttion, attaches at middle neck and shoulder. Red dipinto in large letters (two lines?) from lower neck to upper shoulder, alongside handle.
Fabric, firing, and surface description
Pink fabric, slightly more pale at surface; consistently fired. Medium hard, fine; slightly granular break. Uncommon, well sorted, tiny mixed particles (angular?): red, gray, white; uncommon small golden mica flakes. Wet smoothing around handle and neck.
Preservation comment
One large sherd preserves ca. 30% of shoulder and lower neck with one handle. Slight, sparse abrasion and light scratching; slightly worn breaks; patches of discolored encrustation, especially on shoulder.
